Description
While the two Hardy Boys are out, a strange man visits their home urgently wanting to see their father Fenton. He only gets to see Aunt Gertrude because Fenton and Laura Hardy have gone camping in the wilds of Maine.
Raymond Dalrymple is reluctant to "entrust this business to boys," but eventually he gives in and asks them to visit the old, deserted Purdy estate which he has just purchased. Frank and Joe do just that and find strange happenings and a secret locked room.
